My name is Alantha Carter. I launched The English Language School to offer dynamic, interactive, and high-quality ESL courses to English Language Learners. I am a highly-experienced, dedicated, and passionate educator who celebrates the diversity of people, cultures, and ideas.
I believe that learning English is a wonderful and powerful way to bring people together from all over the world!
I have been teaching students of all ages and backgrounds for over 30 years. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in elementary education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I received my Cambridge University CELTA, Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, from International House, in Barcelona, Spain.
In addition to teaching my students at The English Language School, I have volunteered at the Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund (LALDEF), where I taught ESL and coached individuals who are preparing for their United States Citizenship/Naturalization Test. I have also volunteered in the Hopewell Valley and Princeton schools, where I tutored ESL students and ran an after-school ESL club.
I love teaching ESL to adults from a variety of countries and backgrounds! I find real joy in helping my students gain the English language skills and the confidence needed to pursue their dreams. It’s also a privilege to get to know and learn from my students. I look forward to guiding you on your English language journey!
